The Ancient Mariner Film

A short film inspired by Coleridge’s ballad The Rime of the Ancient Mariner made with a whole range of community groups as we cycled across Somerset last september.
The journey followed the route that Coleridge took between nether Stowey & Bristol. It was at Nether Stowey that Coleridge & Wordsworth wrote what is arguably the most influential collection of poetry in the English lnaguage, Lyrical Ballads which include Coleridges’ supernatural epic The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Wolf and Water used this poem as a starting point to get participants to reflect on their own “journeys” - through their lives, their environments & their heritage. The result is a funny, often moving film which will put you off talking to strangers at weddings and give you the low down on what to do if you meet an albatross (leave your crossbow at home).
