Peace for Higher Education International Conference - University of Tromso, Norway 2000
A jam packed three days at this conference that brought people involved in the academic & conflict management fields worldwide together to explore how a culture of “peace awareness can be fostered through & in higher educational systems.” Wolf + water produced a performance for the Opening Ceremony, oddly sandwiched between Sami singers & a chamber orchestra, which helped set the agenda for the rest of the conference, with a somewhat inept professor of peace studies demonstrating how all these wonderfully complex theories of conflict management can often be just useless rhetoric in practice. The Company also devised while there, a longer conference review show in which the audience were invited to advise a character who had been to the conference & was returning home to a less than sympathetic environment. And finally, Wolf + Water also ran a short introductory conflict management workshop exploring how drama & arts techniques can be used in this field.
